1. Lord Jesus, take me now and henceforth onward lead;
Along life's darkened valleys it's You that I need.
I would not have the strength on this path then to tread,
But if You are with me, Lord, bold I go on ahead.
2. O let my heart have joy amidst woes in this life;
Let sweetness of Your Words be my joy in the strife.
Let holy faith infill me steadfast on the way,
And the wicked sin of pride, O my Lord, help me slay.
3. When in my mortal body I see only death,
Direct me through the gloom, be my light and my breath.
Lord Jesus, take me now—You fulfill ev'ry need—
And henceforth and onward, Lord, I will go since You lead.
