How Lovely In Mine Eyes

Psalm Eighty-Four

O Lord of hosts, how lovely in mine eyes
The tents where thou dost dwell!
For thine abode my spirit faints and sighs;
The courts I love so well.
My longing soul is weary
Within thy house to be;
This world is waste and dreary,
A desert land to me.

The sparrow, Lord, hath found a sheltered home,
The swallow hath her nest;
She layeth there her young, and though she roam,
Returneth there to rest.
I, to thine altar flying,
Would there for ever be;
My heart and flesh are crying,
O living God, for thee!

How blest are they who in thy house abide!
Thee evermore they praise.
How strong the man whom thou alone dost guide,
Whose heart doth keep thy ways.
A pilgrim and a stranger,
He leaneth on thine arm;
And thou, in time of danger,
Dost shield him from alarm.

From strength to strength through Baca's vale of woe,
They pass along in prayer,
And gushing streams of living water flow,
Dug by their faithful care;
Thy rain is sent from heaven
To fertilise the land,
And wayside grace is given
Till they in Zion stand.

Lord God of hosts, attend unto my prayer!
O Jacob's God, give ear!
Behold, O God, our shield, we through thy care,
Within thy courts appear!
Look thou upon the glory
Of thine Anointed's face;
In him we stand before thee,
To witness of thy grace!

One day with thee excelleth over and over
A thousand days apart;
In thine abode, within thy temple door,
Would stand my watchful heart.
Men tell me of the treasure
Hid in their tents of sin;
I look not there for pleasure,
Nor choose to enter in.

Own then the Lord to be thy Sun, thy Shield—
No good will he withhold;
He giveth grace, and soon shall be revealed
His glory, yet untold.
His mighty name confessing,
Walk thou at peace and free;
O Lord, how rich the blessing
Of him who trusts in thee!

If I Could Forever Be Yours

 1.
If I could forever be Yours where You dwell,
And sit at Your feet hearing all You tell,
I'd listen obediently with great delight
To stories of Paradise and Your Light.

 2.
Of joy and Your world, and of life and Your love,
The truths in Your Book You would tell me of;
And eternal bliss like angelical hush
Would fill up my soul in ecstatic rush.

 3.
If I could forever live there in Your home,
I'd press close to You never more to roam.
And ev'rything here from all earth's feeble stores,
I'd gladly give up to be then called Yours.

 4.
A tender voice speaking I heard deep within,
He comforted, calmed me, forgave my sin,
And whispered so softly: "Come into My Light;
       I give you the strength to turn from your night.

  5.
       The price of salvation I gladly have paid,
       I wandered alone therefore be not afraid;
       And by My own Blood I've redeemed you from hell,
       Though you strayed away from Me and you fell.

6.
       O now you are mine and all questions, all doubts
       From you I remove—fear is now cast out.
       O dear friend of Mine! O My brother so dear!
       Now you are expected, come join in cheer!"

 7.
I fell with great tears before God all divine,
My clothes all were rent in a humble sign.
And this loving God names me one of His own.
Forgiving my sins—O! such Mercy shown!

O, If Forever — О, Если б Навеки

1.
O, yesli b naveki ya mog byt' Tvoim,
O, if forever I could be Yours
U nog Tvoikh nezhno vnimaya,
At feet [of] Yours gently listening
YA b slushal pokorno s vostorgom zhivym
I would listen obediently with delight living
O povestyakh chudnogo raya.
About stories [of] wonderful Paradise (Heaven).

2.
O schast'ye, o mire, o zhizni, lyubvi
About happiness, about peace, about life, love
Ty knigu Svoyu otkryval by.
You [the] book [of] Yours open/unlock/reveal would
I vechnym blazhenstvom, kak angel v tishi,
And eternal bliss/joy, like [an] angel in silence,
YA dushu svoyu napolnyal by.
I soul [of] mine fill would.

3.
O, yesli b naveki ya mog byt' Tvoim,
O, if forever I could be Yours,
K grudi Tvoyey nezhno prizhat'sya.
To bossom [of] Yours gently press.
YA vso , vso zemnoye otdal by drugim,
I everything, everything earth give would [to] others
Chtob tol'ko Tvoim nazyvat'sya.
So that only Yours called.

4.
I slyshitsya mne, budto kto-to v tishi
And is heard to me, as if someone in silence
Menya, uteshaya, laskayet.
Me comforts, caresses,
I shepchet mne tikho: "Davno ot tebya
And whispers [to] me softly: “For a long time from you
Resheniy tvoikh ozhidayu.
Decision  yours [I] expect/await.

5.
YA dushu Moyu za tebya polozhil,
I soul [of] Mine for you laid down,
Skitalsya YA zdes' odinoko
Wandered I here alone
I Krov'yu Svoyeyu tebya iskupil,
And [through] Blood my own you [I] redeemed,
Khotya ty otbilsya daleko.
Although you strayed far away.

6.
A nyne ty Moy, i somnen'ya tvoi
And now you [are] Mine, and doubts [of] yours
S tebya YA naveki snimayu.
From you I forever remove.
O drug Moy! O brat Moy! Skoreye idi,
O friend Mine! O brother Mine! Hurry come.
Tebya YA davno ozhidayu".
You I for a long time expecting/anticipating.”

7.
I pal ya, rydaya, pred Bogom moim,
And fell I, weeping, before God [of] mine,
Odezhdy svoi razdiraya.
Clothes of my own rending.
A Bog moy menya nazyvayet Svoim,
And God mine me names His Own,
Za vse i vo vsem mne proshchaya.
For all and in all me forgiving.

Years of Youth —

Gody! Gody yunosti letyat,
Years! The Years of youth fly,
Gody, im vozvrata net nazad,
Years, they have no return back,
Gody, v vechnost' nas vlekut s soboy.
Years, into eternity draw us with them.
Gody, dni ukhodyat cheredoy.
Years, days depart in succession.

2.
Gody, izmenyayut v zhizni nas.
Years, change us in life.
Gody, neizvedan kazhdyy chas,
Years, uncharted every hour,
Gody, ty sovsem uzhe sedoy,
Years, you quite already gray,
Gody, chto svershili nad toboy.
Years, that have made you.

3.
Gody! S kazhdym godom blizhe dom,
Years, with every year closer home,
Gody, skoro vstrecha so Khristom,
Years, soon meeting with Christ,
Gody, skoro polnoch', god proidot ,
Years, soon midnight as the year passes
Gody, skoro nash Gospod' pridot.
Years, soon our Lord will come.

4.
Gody! Dlya Iisusa posvyati,
Years, For Jesus consecrate / devote,
Gody, plod tvoy v zhizni prinesi,
Years, fruit yours in life bring,
Gody, god proshel, idyot drugoy,
Years, a year has passed, comes another,
Gody, yest' chto dumat' nam s toboy.
Years, there is that to think us with you.
       (there is that for us and you to think of.)

5. (additional verse not sung by Simon)
Gody! Bud' gotov voyti s Khristom.
Years! Be ready to enter with Christ.
Gody! V vechnyy slavnyy Bozhiy dom.
Years! God's eternal glorious home.
Gody! Tam svyatyye bez chisla.
Years! There [are] saints without number.
Gody! Vse poyut Khristu: "Khvala!"
Years! All sing to Christ: "Praise!"

Years of Youth—They Fly Away!

1.
The years!  Years of youth—they fly away!
The years,  Ne'er returns a single day;
The years,  toward the end we're drawn along;
The years,  days depart, we can't prolong!

2.
The years,  in our lives they bring us change;
The years,  ev'ry hour uncharted range.
The years,  you have now a head of white;
The years,  day has quickly turned to night!

3.
The years,  closer home with ev'ry year,
The years,  soon we'll meet with Christ so dear!
The years,  soon midnight, the year will pass!
The years,  soon our Lord will come at last!

4.
The years,  then for Jesus consecrate,
The years,  all the fruit of life donate;
The years,  one has passed and then another—
The years,  think on this and spur each other!

5. (The additional verse that is not sung by Simon)
The years! Ready then as Christ shall come
The years! To His ageless glorious home;
The years! There His countless saints shall raise
The years! Songs to Christ in endless Praise!

Here are the English lyrics set to the music (which is close to what Simon sings)—
Note: Simon takes a great deal of liberty with the tempo and timing

It seems that there are other versions of this song and at least one other verse.
