When The Roll Is Called up Yonder (Russian version)

Someone asked for a transliteration of this song.  That's when I noticed that I did not have a transliteration and word-for-word exact translation.  (Of course, I have the Russian back to English version to fit the meter of the song.  Hymn music is there also along with the new words.)

В час, когда труба Господня над землею прозвучит
V chas, kogda truba Gospodnya nad zemleyu prozvuchit
In [the] hour, when [the] trumpet [of the] Lord over earth will sound
И настанет вечно светлая заря,
I nastanet vechno svetlaya zarya,
And will come eternally bright dawn,
Имена Он всех спасенных в перекличке повторит,
Imena On vsekh spasennykh v pereklichke povtorit,
Names He [of] all saved in [the] roll call will repeat,
Там по милости Господней буду я.
Tam po milosti Gospodney budu ya.
There by mercy/grace [of the] Lord will be I.

Припев (Chorus)
На небесной перекличке,
Na nebesnoy pereklichke,
At [the] heavenly roll call,

На небесной перекличке,
Na nebesnoy pereklichke,
At [the] heavenly roll call,

На небесной перекличке,
Na nebesnoy pereklichke,
At [the] heavenly roll call,

Там по милости Господней буду я.
Tam po milosti Gospodney budu ya.
There by mercy/grace [of the] Lord will be I.

В день блаженный воскресенья всех умерших во Христе,
V den' blazhennyy voskresen'ya vsekh umershikh vo Khriste,
On [the] day blessed Resurection [of] all died in Christ,
Водворенья их в обители Царя,
Vodvoren'ya ikh v obiteli Tsarya,
Placement theirs in mansions [of the] King,
Всех святых, омытых кровию, пролитой на кресте,
Vsekh svyatykh, omytykh kroviyu, prolitoy na kreste,
All [the] saints, washed [by the] blood, shed on [the] cross,
Созовет Он, и на зов отвечу я.
Sozovet On, i na zov otvechu ya.
Will call He, and at [the] call will answer I.

Припев (Chorus)

Дай трудиться для Тебя, Господь, любовью всем служить
Dai trudit'sya dlya Tebya, Gospod', lyubov'yu vsem sluzhit'
Let [me] to work for You, O Lord, [with] love all to serve
С утра раннего и до заката дня,
S utra rannego i do zakata dnya,
From morning early and unto decline [of] day,
А когда велишь работу мне земную Ты сложить,
A kogda velish' rabotu mne zemnuyu Ty slozhit',
And when tell work me earthly You to lay down
(eg, And when You tell me to lay down earthly work)
На небесный клич тогда предстану я.
Na nebesnyy klich togda predstanu ya.
At [the] heavenly shout, then will appear I.

Припев (Chorus)

Another version— a cappella, from Tambov Church in Russia

  1. Your word by word translations are such a help to my elementary Russian language study! THANK YOU!

I first came across Simon's songs winter of '19 after his Мой в небе край годной came up in a search for Russian Hymns with subtitles. (It remains one of my favorites, but I was so amused that this "Russian" is a fan of western wear! Ha! The joke's on me!) As an auditory learner and singer, I knew that I would learn easily this way, but the cases remain a regular stumbling block for me! I remain subtitle dependent.

  2. «Мой В Небе Край Родной» is one of my favorites too. Likewise so is «Великий и Чудный» which we sing in our church from time to time.

Yes, cases are a different thing to think about. In English it is mostly word order. In Russian (and similar languages) it is all about the ending (declination). I recommend this on-line resource: https://tinyurl.com/yx9aou34
(Opens up to wiki dictionary that parses words.)
